Reducing Growing Pains with the Cloud

One would think that small businesses have things easy because fewer employees means a smaller and easier team to manage

One would think that small businesses have things easy because fewer employees means a smaller and easier team to manage. In fact, there are a lot of challenges that are unique to small businesses, and one of the big ones if "growing pains."

It's difficult for a business owner to lock themselves into contracts, whether it's a lease on an office building or a contract with an internet provider, because it's sometimes impossible to predict how quickly the business will grow and whether these existing arrangements can sustain a larger team. At least, that was true until the cloud came along.

Small business owners that have unexpected success will more than likely have to withstand some stressful aspects of business growth, but cloud-based phone systems at least take away some of the stress and allow you to focus on the more exciting aspects.

Add Lines Easily
With a traditional phone system, getting new lines added onto your plan requires having a technician visit the office for setup and extra expenses. With cloud phone systems, all it takes is a few clicks of the mouse. Log in to your web portal to add users and request new phones to be sent to your office if necessary. Phones are easily configured and begin working immediately. Spare yourself the money, time, and hassle.

Support Multiple Offices
Many businesses that grow decide to open up new offices in other parts of the country or the world. If you're using a traditional phone system, this can mean going through the setup process all over again - from choosing a provider, to choosing a contract, to setting up the phone lines. Cloud phones have multi-location support so you don't have to worry about separate bills, using separate companies, the long setup process, et cetera. Manage everything from your headquarters site while enjoying simple four-digit dialing to other employees no matter which office they may be working at.

Support Travel and Remote Working
Perhaps you're on the road much more frequently now that you've got more clients. Or, perhaps you've decided to hire remote employees to pick up some of the extra work. Either situation is no problem with the cloud. Use the online softphone or an iPhone app to make calls from you business' number no matter where you are or what device you're using. When your employees are out of the office, you can have their calls forwarded to a more available worker.

Add-On Features
As you take on more clients, you may discover a need for HD video conference, web conferencing, online faxing, or any number of other features. Cloud phone systems make it easy by bundling all these services into one - no extra fees and no confusing contracts.
