Abiquo Named 2011 "Cool Vendor" in Cloud Computing

Gartner reports highlights a small handful of vendors with innovative approaches and technologies

“We consider Abiquo’s inclusion in the Gartner Cool Vendors report as further confirmation that our vision of cloud computing is resonating with customers and the top minds in cloud,” said Wendy Perilli, Abiquo vice president of global marketing, as  it was announced that Gartner has selected Abiquo as one of the “Cool Vendors in Cloud Computing, 2011.”

“Abiquo was strategically designed to meet the needs of today’s enterprises," Perilli continued. "Unique features like global infrastructure management, business policy-driven automation, and simultaneous support for multiple hypervisors enable enterprises to build and manage their cloud environments to suit their individual needs,” she added.

Abiquo, says the company, "empowers enterprises and managed service providers to easily create and manage private, dedicated, and hybrid clouds." Resources are controlled with comprehensive business policies, ensuring security and compliance. Users access resources through a self-service portal, and virtual enterprises are managed by administrators using smart automation, freeing the IT organization to focus on more value-add activities.

Abiquo is the only cloud management vendor, Perilli notes, that supports mixed workloads in a heterogeneous environment.

According to the Gartner report:

“Abiquo's Enterprise Edition may appeal to users looking for hypervisor-agnostic, multitenant cloud infrastructure management with delegated administration to manage data center and hosted resources to create and manage private, public and hybrid clouds. Its Community Edition will appeal to open-source communities.”

Authored by Gartner Research Vice Presidents Milind Govekar, Cameron Haight, and Donna Scott the report highlights a small handful of vendors with innovative approaches and technologies.
