Stoneware, Inc. Announces webNetwork 6 Beta Release

webnetwork 6 Beta Enables Customers to Enhance Private Cloud Deployments

Stoneware, Inc. will release a beta version of webNetwork 6 on Thursday, June 3. Stoneware is delivering a widely available webNetwork 6 beta to enable customers to enhance their private cloud deployments, continue to integrate a growing SaaS (Software as a Service) environment, and introduce new web technology concepts.

Packed with new features, the webNetwork 6 beta will include:

  • New web-based, cross-platform, RDP client for connecting to terminal servers, remote desktops, and VDI platforms.
  • New File Services interface which includes remote file editing, drag/drop, and network printing.
  • New mobile file system interface that supports iPhones, Droids, Blackberrys, and other smartphone devices.
  • Microsoft Live ID integration allows customers to integrate Microsoft hosted offerings such as [email protected], Office Live, Outlook Web Access, and SkyDrive within the same virtual web desktop as their privately hosted applications and services.
  • "Network Aware" mode allows the webNetwork system to communicate with the underlying network infrastructure. Customers will be able to deliver cloud services and control the quality of the delivery (e.g. - bandwidth, reliability, etc.).
  • Exciting new "Push" technology allows administrators to remotely start applications, logoff users, launch URLs, and send messages without client software or a browser plug-in.
  • New webOS 6.0 (virtual web desktop) enhances functionality with desktop locking, push integration, mandatory components, and an interface redesign.
  • Updated portal profile merges with webOS technologies to deliver new desktop functionality into the portal interface, thus shifting the portal paradigm.
  • Addition of binary support inside of Report Services allows customers to build custom reports that include videos, audio, files, movies, documents, and other content types.
  • Form Services now allows administrators to include attachments with any electronic web form which directly integrates into binary database fields or File Services.
  • Significant enhancements to webNetwork's teamPages, webPages, and collaboration interfaces.

"We are very pleased with the depth and maturity of this release and feel it firmly establishes Stoneware as the leader in cloud computing for the masses. It is clear that cloud computing will have a desktop and that desktop is best represented in webNetwork version 6.0," states Ken Quinton, VP of Strategic Relationships.
